RPMC IX CONVENES A PROBLEM-SOLVING SESSION
The Regional Project Monitoring Committee (RPMC) of Regional Development Council (RDC) IX last June 7, 2012 convened for its 2nd Quarterly meeting cum Problem Solving Session (PSS) on several projects monitored by the Committee.
Among the projects that were subjected for PSS were the Regular Infrastructure Projects of DPWH IX; the Agrarian Reform Communities Projects (ARCP) 2 of DAR IX funded under the Asian Development Bank and the Coconut Husk Utilization/Enhancement Project of the Labason Small Coconut Farmers and Farm Workers (LASCOFFAW) Cooperative under the Kennedy Round 2 (KR2) Project which was subjected for Results Monitoring and Evaluation (RME).
The LASCOFFAW Cooperative which is composed of 130 members based in Labason, Zamboanga del Norte ceased its operation in 2010 due to operational and management problems. Among the major actions taken by the committee were towards the possible revival of the Cooperative. It was recommended that they be referred to the Cooperative Development Authority (CDA) IX, as well as, introduced to the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) IX for possible marketing linkages of their project. The committee committed to exert efforts in assisting the cooperative and helping them revitalize their operations and other concerns.
On another note, during the said meeting, Zamboanga International Airport Manager Celso Bayabos informed the committee that two new units of 167 KVA transformers have already been installed to respond to the frequent voltage fluctuations and the efficient operation of the newly installed air-conditioning units at the pre-departure area. He further informed that funds are also available for the procurement of the standby generator set for the airport. This development is a result of the efforts taken by the RPMC IX during the continuous PSS last 2011.(Michael Vincent DC Carboral, PMED, NEDA IX)
